The ATP Challenger Tour produced five singles champions during the week of 19–25 October 2026, with Jenson Brooksby winning on home soil in Fort Worth, Tristan Schoolkate capturing the Guangzhou International Challenger in China, and Alexander Ritschard claiming the week’s highest-category title in Lisbon.
There was also success for Brazil’s Matheus Pucinelli de Almeida in Colombia and Italy’s Filippo Romano in Florence. The five tournaments were split between three clay-court events and two hard-court competitions, with the finals featuring a mixture of experienced tour professionals and emerging players.
Brooksby defeats Blanch in all-American final
Jenson Brooksby claimed the Challenger 75 title in Fort Worth, Texas, defeating fellow American Darwin Blanch 6-1, 6-4.
Brooksby, who has previously reached the world’s top 40, was the most established name among the week’s Challenger champions. The American reached a career-high ATP singles ranking of No. 33 in June 2022 and has since been working to rebuild his career.
His victory over Blanch was particularly notable given the age difference between the finalists. Blanch, born in September 2007, is part of a younger generation of American players attempting to establish themselves on the professional circuit.
The Fort Worth result gave Brooksby his first title at Challenger level in five years, while Blanch’s appearance in the final was another encouraging result in his development after winning his maiden title last month.
Schoolkate fights back to win Guangzhou title
Australia’s Tristan Schoolkate produced the most dramatic final of the week, recovering from a set down to defeat Hong Kong’s Coleman Wong 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-4 at the Guangzhou International Challenger in Nansha, China.
Schoolkate was pushed into a second-set tiebreak after Wong had taken the opening set. The Australian won the tiebreak 7-3 before completing his comeback in the deciding set.
The victory added another Challenger title to Schoolkate’s record of six, and first for 18 months, while Wong now has 6 finals losses from seven Challenger finals.
Ritschard dominates Lisbon final
Alexander Ritschard delivered the most convincing championship performance of the week, defeating Svyatoslav Gulin 6-2, 6-1 to win the Lisboa Belém Open.
The Swiss player claimed the Challenger 100 title on clay in Portugal, dropping just three games in the final.
Ritschard’s victory was the highest-category title awarded during the week, and despite being a long way off his highest ranking of #99, it’s a welcome step forward for him. The last Challenger title he won, was two years ago, also in Lisbon.
Pucinelli de Almeida wins in Cali
Brazil’s Matheus Pucinelli de Almeida moved within touching distance of his career high of #190, after he captured the Challenger 75 title at the Cali Open in Colombia. He defeated Argentina’s Valerio Aboian 7-6(1), 6-3.
The opening set was decided by a tiebreak, which Pucinelli de Almeida won 7-1, before he secured the title in straight sets.
The Brazilian’s second tournament win of the year continues South America’s strong representation on the Challenger clay-court circuit, where tournaments provide important opportunities for players seeking ranking points without travelling to Europe or North America.
Romano wins all-Italian final in Florence
Filippo Romano completed the week’s champions with a three-set victory over compatriot Michele Ribecai at the Challenger 50 event in Florence. This was Romano’s maiden Challenger title, and takes him to a ranking of #167, just a few places behind his career high.
Romano won 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, recovering after Ribecai levelled the match by taking the second set.
