No big events on the women’s tour last week, with four W50 events taking place. The Yecla 50 event was taken out by Charo Esquiva Banuls, which was her first ever professional title. Banuls has moved up around 500 places this season already, and finally got her reward. At just 18 years old, could we be looking at another Spanish talent rising up the ranks? On the other end of the spectrum, former top 100 player, Kayla Day is trying to work her way back to that region, and has now won four ITF titles this year She moves to #118 in the world, and isn’t far off a return to that coveted double-digit ranking.
On the men’s side of the tour, there were a couple of players notching up big numbers. Dmitry Popko won his 30th ITF title, and third in a row! He’s now won 23 of his last 25 matches on the tour.
While Daniel Michalski won his 18th title, and third of this season.
